A report news produced by the Brazilian TV channel, Record News, showed the advantages of a production model that puts citriculture and beekeeping side by side. The feature tells the story of the beekeeper Mr. Alberto Luiz da Silva, who has 400 beehives installed next to orange groves. “Integrated production between citriculture and beekeeping helps improving the quality of honey”, says the producer interviewed by the TV channel.
The TV report explains how the integrated system works and points out that bees help in pollinating groves, which has helped to raise orange tree productivity by 35%. In addition, the presence of bees helps increasing the weight and number of seeds in the fruit.
